News and Updates

Hello, everyone!

It's been a while since our last update, I know. But better late than never, right? Without further ado, here's a brief rundown of what has been happening at the shop:

  • Shakespeare Sundays: We are now nine plays into our Bard-a-Thon (only twenty-nine more to go!), which continues this coming Sunday with Richard II. Want to brush up your Shakespeare and/or read along with fellow fans of the Bard? Join us every Sunday at 3 p.m.

  • Society of Heroines: Our newest book club has met four times now, with readings ranging from Science Fiction/Fantasy to Contemporary Fiction. Our next meeting is November 8th at 3 p.m. for a discussion of Sister Mine by Nalo Hopkinson.

  • Sherlock Holmes Play: Come to the Richmond Civic Theatre's production of Sherlock Holmes: The Final Adventure! Yours truly has been made a member of the "Baker Street Irregulars" (read: I'm one of the backstage crew members) for the show, which I can attest is a play well worth seeing. Without giving too much away: Holmes, Watson, and Moriarty are up to their usual tricks--with a little help from Irene Adler, the Larabee Siblings, and Sid Prince (who is not a safe cracker). Also check out the steampunk inspired set and costumes. Upcoming performances are this Friday and Saturday at 7:30 p.m.

  • Tea: We've added another blend to our tea repertoire: Literary Heroines (fitting, given our book club, don't you think?).

  • Poetry Night: Every Wednesday at 6 p.m., local poets and poetry fans are welcome to come and have an evening of readings.
